Jinska braced herself and entered the Lordaeron throne room. Immediately she felt the greedy eyes upon her. She kept her eyes downcast so she would not have to look at his gloating visage, but her peripheral vision was filled with the sight of him. Indeed, Saul’s presence filled the room in more ways than one.

She was certainly not alone among the Umbrals in being disconcerted by their prodigal members penetrating, sinister gaze. Swallowing hard she hustled past as fast as she could, her eyes firmly fixed to the floor, and as far away as possible from the giant orange creature.

Suddenly she stopped abruptly. There on the floor was a hat. She picked it up, examining it. Her memory nagged at her before it struck her that it looked exactly the same as the one Mordaver had worn to the party. It suddenly dawned on her that no one had heard or seen Mordaver since that night. That in itself might not be odd, but Jinska cast a cautious glance towards Saul.

In the corner of her eye she noticed something else. Leaning closer she saw it to be a scrap of cloth; black, with silver embroidery. With a chilling feeling she realised it looked the same as the robe Mordaver had been wearing. There were several such scraps lying around the throne room, as if they had been ripped up by something, or even…chewed upon.

Jinska shrank back away from Saul, his eyes seeming to take on even more malevolence than usual. As she backed away her foot hit something. Glancing down she saw it was a large stein. Her blood ran cold. Mordaver had had a stein at the party.

Clamping her hand to her mouth, she turned and fled.
