How to include images in your posts

Post by admin » Mon Jun 22, 2015 12:43 pm

If you want to upload an image from your laptop or mobile device, follow these steps:

1. Start a new post.
2. At the bottom of the page (below the post, where it's hard to see), click on the Attachments tab.
3. Click Add file.
4. Select your image from the file dialog box and click Open
5. Click on the "Place inline" button that's in the very hard to read box that appears.
6. Image is now part of your post, like this:

If you want to reference an image that's somewhere on the web, follow these steps:

1. Find the image URL
2. Start a new post.
3. Click the "Img" button.
4. Paste in your image's URL between the img and /img BBcode tags.
5. Image will appear in the post, like this:

How do I rotate the image so it's the right way up?

It appears the right way up in my files, but shows as rotated in the post.

There are definitely some oddities about how computers/phones know that a photo should be oriented, but other programs (such as bulletin boards) don't.

My recommendation is to use an image editing program to open the image, rotate the image if necessary, resize/crop if necessary, save as PNG, and then upload to here. That should sort it.

My recommendation for an image editing program that's free, fairly easy, lightweight, flexible and powerful is Irfanview.
